My Father was a life member of your branch until he died in 1973. Served with the 1st Bn in China and then through the war after which he left the forces. I attended many functions at South Shields and at Durham. Still have lots of photos of dinner nights etc. Have been out to Australia to visit son of Spotty Martin a good friend of his who has another vast collection of memorabilia. Dad was an adoptred Geordie and always ended his letters " Gan Canny ".

My Dad 4447756 Bdmn David Edward Parker served 22 years in the DLI, mostly 2/DLI prewar, and 6/DLI as POW in WW2.
I have tried several times to contact the DLI Museum, as I have several items they might be interested in, (seeing if not obtaining). But they never reply. I have his autobiography for those who would like to read it. I am ex-3LI.

It is with great regret that I have to inform you of the death of my father Captain Stanley Mullen who passed away after a short illness on 16th October 2011. He joined the 1st Battalion ACF in South Shields in 1941, a member of the Home Guard, Northumberland hussards. He was RQMS in the 50's with the ACF he left Shields in 1972 as a lieutenant. He then joined the Royal Anglian ACF in Northampton, he formed detachments in Daventry, Towcester and Daventry. He was awarded outstanding service award presented by Princess Alice. He retired at 65 and because of his exceptional service he retained his status of Captain. He will be sadly missed by his widow Isabelle and three children

joined the DLI as a young man in 164 as a Junior Soldier and joined the Bn in Colchester in 1966. Spent most of my time in the Signals pl with then Captain LJC Anderson as RSO. Sad day when we went to 4 LI and sadder agin when they were reformed. Joined 3 RGJ in 1969 and remained in the Division, my last 5 years with 3 LI as Asst Adjt and Families Officer. Pensioned out in May 1995.
