The Durham Light Infantry (1758-1968)
During the history of the Regiment, 11 men of the Durham Light Infantry have been awarded the Victoria Cross.
Three of these brave men were Tynesiders.
- Pte Thomas Young VC (WW1) from Boldon Colliery
- 2/Lieut Richard W Annand VC (WW2) from South Shields
- Pte Adam Wakenshaw (WW2) from Newcastle
The Memorials of these men are in there home towns or elsewhere.
